I appreciate the comparison of extreme emotional pain to physical illness. The first step in helping is acknowledging that there is pain and then trying to find a way to help. Being believed and understood is extremely important even if the doctors ultimately cannot “fix” the problem. As someone with a genetic connective tissue condition, I’ve spent the last 40 years relieved when my symptoms were acknowledged. My first thought is always that I’m relieved that my symptoms can be explained and understood if not ultimately fixed. Acknowledgement is extremely important to understanding. Thank you for being our teacher in this Samia. Love always to you and your family!
